After we spent all morning sledding, we had about 3.5 minutes to get ready and get over to The Home Depot for the kids building class, again, I can only apologize for the super scary picture of me. Yikes.

It was fun to use tools and paint, but I think the kids were just tuckered out from all that sledding. Hunter's face is still red.

It FINALLY snowed

We finally got enough snow for the kids to sledding. We started first thing this morning. Hunter wouldn't stop asking if it was time to go out yet. At 9:30 a.m. Hunter got his gear on, and I bundled up as well and we picked up our cute neighbors.

It was so cold but as you can see the kiddo's didn't seem to mind at all.

In an effort to build a snowman the kids began rolling their snow balls. Well as kids do they got a little carried away and not only did we have to move them with the sleds we couldn't even come close to lifting them on top of one another. So we ended up with a snow fort.

We were so blessed this Christmas. Santa treated us all real well. But by far the best gift was that this was our first Christmas together as a family. Yes, Daddy came to spend Christmas morning with us. Hunter was beyond excited to have both Mommy and Daddy there. We are all reminded at such a time that these little moments mean so much to a child. It is a day that Hunter and I will never forget. Happy memories, when just for a moment all is well, all was very well.

Christmas Eve 2011

Christmas eve was very busy for us.

We got up and made cookies first thing in the morning. Then we had to finish up all of the last minute items.

!st - Write our letter to Santa

2nd ~ Finish wrapping gifts

3rd~ I made my Mother's Lasagna.

4th~ We got ready and headed over to Helen and Phil's for our annual Christmas Eve dinner. Helen and I each made a Lasagna instead of our traditional spaghetti dinner. We had tons of food but it was wonderful as always.

5th~ After dinner we headed home to prepare for Santa's big visit. We opened our Christmas Jammie's. Complete disaster from the very start. I had a hard time finding Jammie's for us this year? I am not sure why it was so difficult. Anyway, I ended up settling and grabbed Hunter's from the boy's section and the grabbed some that matched his from the woman's section. When we got them on both were 17 sizes too big. The one's I got for Hunter were in fact woman's size large (yikes) and I guess I wasn't doing myself justice because I put mine on and I could have fit two of me in them (I kinda liked that though). Anyway, we made what we had from last year work.

6th~ It was time to put out the cookies and milk for Santa and Santa's Magic Key.

7th~ We got ready for bed, read Twas The Night Before Christmas. And drifted off to sleep with visions of sugar plums dancing in our heads.

Baking cookies for Santa is one of our favorite traditions. Passed on by my Mother, it is what got us most excited about Santa's impending arrival. Although my Mom baked an entire dining table full of goodies, we managed a few of our favorites. Growing up our house smelled like Christmas, looked like the North Pole, and was full of magic and wonder.

We made a huge mess and lots of yummy cookies. Hunter did so much to help this year, I think it made the cookies taste even better.

I have been blessed in so many ways with Hunter in my life. Every day he shows me what it means to love.

The girls and I took our boys to have breakfast with Santa. What a fun (EARLY) morning we had.

The boys got to eat breakfast,write Santa a letter, listen to the Polar Express complete with a slide show, drink cocoa, eat cookies and talk to Santa and Mrs. Clause, receive presents and not to mention we had our very own elf (Sparkle) looking after us.

Well worth the early, long drive to Ogden.

So I called in a special favor to the "Big Man" of Christmas and arranged a surprise visit from Santa at our house.

Now as you can imagine it is hard for Santa a to leave the North Pole this close to Christmas, but what can I say Tami & Steve and Myself have some pretty special kiddo's.

Needless to say, I had 3 EXTREMELY happy kids and Hunter hasn't stopped talking about it since.

Santa couldn't stay too long, but Hunter was able to extend an invitation for him to attend his birthday party. It was so cute.

Hunter had his Christmas concert yesterday and today. He did a great job and sang so well. Now he can enjoy the rest of December relaxing with nothing to worry about but staying off the "Naughty List".

Tearing down the fall decorations were not as fun a putting them up! One it was much warmer and not as scary!

I was able to snap perhaps the cutest photo of team work in action so I guess it made the casualties of our fall decor worth it! Yes I said casualties...4 to be exact. that was the surprise behind the bail of straw. 3 dead mice. Uuuugghhh I get a little sick to my stomach just typing that. The 4th dead mouse was found by Matthew (my neighbor) a few nights before. Yuck!!!! In case enquiring minds want to know, we won't be using a bail of straw for decor next year......

~Thanksgiving 2011~

We have a lot to be thankful for this year. And although I don;t always reflect on all of the good in my life and sometimes let the trials overwhelm me, on this day I was very overwhelmed... but by feelings of love, and well thankfulness. I have the most amazing friends and the love of a wonderful family, and I am blessed to be so loved and in love with the most caring and loving little man in the world. I am blessed, truly.

Once again we had a wonderful meal with our adopted family Helen and Phil. And a surprise visit from the best Daddy in the world (mine) and the lovely Lynda. Everything was delicious, the company was great and then Hunter started puking so we left!

Halloween day was jam packed with fun! First thing in the morning Hunter had his Halloween parade. After lunch the middle school and high school kids performed Thriller in the parking lot of the school, FANTASTIC! The kids did so good coming up with zombie costumes and I have to say the kids had skills!!!! After thriller, Hunter's class had their party. I was lucky enough to be able to help out in the class. The activities were so fun from Ghost bowling, to making Rotten Apples, and we can't forget the pinata!!!! Too much fun.

Family Halloween Fun - 2011

We had our (at least) 22nd annual Family Halloween Party. the kids Halloween party started at least 22 years ago when my mom would pull together this extravaganza for her grand kids. After my Mom passed, we have tried to carry on this tradition in her honor. She made everything bigger, and better. Joshy, Arjay, baby Tatum and the Twins (to be) got in just in time to join in the fun! We had so much planned for the little tykes to do, but with one mama down with a migraine, and the other two Mama's scrambling to get everything together, all the kids wanted to do way play and jump on the trampoline... Hummmm... Make a note, next year don't plan so many games, all these kiddo's want to do is play. We were all able to bake a few of Mom's Halloween favorites,which always pulls everything together and really makes the holiday. So here's to you Mom.

Thank you Lence family for putting on such a fun Halloween party!!!!

After carving pumpkins we rushed to make some Halloween cupcakes for the neighbor party. Hunter was in charge of getting the ingredients together and mixing the batter. He did great! I was so rushed that I didn't get a picture of the cupcakes.... And Boo to having to get my car registered so I missed the whole party :( But, I was able to snap these two!!!

Carving pumpkins was very exciting this year. Hunter was able to carve the whole thing all by himself. The only thing that I did was help draw the face. We had so much fun and Hunter got really creative this year. I'm a very proud Mama.

Our annual visit to Schmidt's Pumpkin patch was perfect. The weather... crisp with the smell of chimney smoke on the breeze.

Hunter picked out 3 perfect pumpkins. One for him , one for me, and one for Daddy. It's amazing how mindful Hunter is of his Dad. Even though he knows Dad won't be there, we have to make sure he is counted for. Sweet boy.

Patriot Week

~Giving back to those who give us everything~

A few weeks ago was Patriot Week at Hunter's school. Did I mention that I LOVE Hunter's school?

Every year for Patriot Week the school picks a theme and spends the week learning about that theme. This year's them was Military. The school had a "Support our Troops" drive and asked for the families to collect items that the our troops needed desperatly. Toiletries, stationary, games, snaks, etc. I decided to ask for donations at my work and in just a few days we recieved an outpouring of support. I collected money and went to the dollar store and we were able to get at least 1 of everything on the list, including "Thank you" letters for the soldiers. I was amazed at what we were able to get.

A HUGE thank you to all of my Co-Workers for their support.

My "cute butt" neighbor, Tami and I decided to change up the front porch display this year. So we added a few fabulous embellishments. I set up my original bail of straw & scarecrow display, and my front door garland and wreath. We added garland around Tami's door, the "spooky guy", creepy cloth, head stones, cute light covers (thanks Lence's) and large scarecrows.

I think it turned out quite good! Most importantly our little spooks LOVE it.

Crazy, Crazy Corn Maze

On Saturday we went to the Crazy, crazy Corn Maze. We hadn't been to one before so we didn't know what to expect. A rock wall was one of those unexpected things. Hunter was certain that he wanted to try it. Mama bear wasn't certain he should. But I caved, and let my baby scale the wall. He was very nervous and a little scared so getting started was a trial. It took him a while to get up there but with a lot of encouragement he kept going. On his first attempt he just fell short of ringing the bell. He actually slipped of trying to reach for it.

After the first attempt at the wall we set off into the corn maze. It was fun for a minute until he discovered throwing kernels of corn at Mom was WAY more fun than getting lost in the maze. And the thought of going up that wall and ringing the bell had his mind preoccupied.

Awwww... We make a pretty cute couple :)

The 2nd attempt proved Hunter to be triumphant in his quest for the top! Hooooray he made it.

All Hunter wants is his 2 front teeth!

After months of loose teeth (and a minor trampoline fiasco) Hunter has lost his front teeth, within a week of each other. It is amazing how losing those baby teeth transforms a "baby" into a big kid. For months I have been threatening him that if his front teeth fell out I was going to super glue them back in. I digress, he looks simply adorable. Hooray for milestones.

Why have I been MIA?~ Weddings Galor

HELLO BLOGGY WORLD!

I'm back.

I have been off line for almost a month because I have been working 2 jobs. In addition to my "real job" I have been a florist as well. One of my dear friends Lynne asked me to do her flowers for her wedding in addition to having the honor of being her maid of honor. She was getting married on the 30th. So I booked that day and my little sister called me and asked if I could do the flowers and centerpieces for her sister in laws wedding. Of course I said when is her wedding? October 1st. O.K, perfect one in September one in October no problem... Did I ever mention I am a natural blond and had a major blond moment. That is not a few weeks apart or even a few days apart they were 1 day apart. Ugggg. So needless to say I have been a very busy girl. A special shout out to Helen, Amanda, Hunter and Hunter's dad for being so patient and helpful! Without you I wouldn't have pulled it off. I did and both weddings were beautiful!

1st day of 1st Grade

New year, new school, new teacher, new friends and lots of fun!

Hunter started first grade last week. Wow, that is even hard to type, much less say it out loud.

It's like I blinked and he's all grown up. But I am happy to report the only tears shed were mine, the only fears needed to overcome were mine, and the only one who wanted to hang on just a little longer was me!

Hunter was so excited to start school you would have thought that he was a seasoned pro! This is his first year in a big school, let alone a school that houses Kindergartner's through 12th grade. A very diverse group of kids so I thought he might be a little intimidated. Boy was I wrong. He got right up in the morning, made his breakfast request, french toast and turkey bacon, with a little powder Sugar and a cold glass of milk. Got dressed and it was out the door. He ran down the sidewalk to get to the car and as soon as we pulled into our parking spot he so casually says "Okay, bye Mom"! What??? No first day anxiety at all. "Can I walk you inside" I ask? "Okay" he replies. As we get to the door I asked him to turn and look at me and again "Okay, bye Mom"! A little stunned I asked if he remembered where his classroom was, he thought for a minute... Ummm, you better help me find it Mommy. i took him to his class room and he darted inside as if he had done it a thousand times before. He sat down with the kids and stood there wondering how it all happened. How or when did my little baby grow into an independent boy. I know that is so good, but there was a little part of me that still longed for the sound of him asking me to hold his hand, and feeling him squeeze just a little harder as if to say Mommy I need you.

I left the room and headed to my car I was so proud, and sad, and happy all at the same time. I couldn't wait until school was over.

He did great, and loves school.

"Bear" Bottoms and Yellowstone

I took Hunter on a End of Summer trip to Bear World and Yellowstone.

He loved every part of it and said the trip was too short. He got to do a lot of things that he has been anxious to do for some time.

and the biggie... Learn to jump into the pool and go underwater with NO WATER WINGS and as a bonus he mustered up enough courage to swim underwater with no water wings. I'm so proud and so is he.

It was perfect weather and everything went very smoothly. However I didn't get to go souvenir shopping. What is it with boys and their intense hatred for shopping???

And for some reason I could only get pictures of the Bear's bums???? I'll keep the details short because Lord know I posted enough pictures. Enjoy, there are a lot of them.

Happy Birthday Grandma Helen Melon

We celebrated this lovely ladies 39th or was it 42nd or could it have been her 77th or maybe her 88th birthday a few weekends ago at Market Street.

To any of you who may not know who Helen is, I will briefly share our history.

I met Helen about 8 years ago when she started working for the same company as I do. She was thrown into a Sales Summit that I had put on in San Diego just a short time after starting with the company. She didn't really know anyone, and there she was traveling with a bunch of people who had already had a strong acquaintance with everyone there. I was 4 1/2 months pregnant and unable to really participate in all of the socializing that was going on due to my condition, and Helen was one of the few to hang out and shop around with me while others were getting their drink on! From that time her quiet generosity and friendship would show up at moments when I least expected it. A teddy bear on my desk for my little peanut growing inside of me, and a baby photo cube another time. Little kindnesses that she never ever did take credit for, but eventually I found her out. :)

Many years have passed and she has been my constant friend and support system, very much the mother figure I so desperately miss and need. And more importantly, her and her husband, Grandpa Phil, have adopted my little boy and been the grandparents Hunter hasn't had. They are there for everything no matter what. They love us without prejudice and without conditions, as if we were their own.

Hunter once was talking about his Grandma's with Helen and I'd like to sum up the conversation;

Hunter: Helen I have 3 Grandma's

Helen: You do?

Hunter: Yes, I have one Grandma that lives far from my house that I don't get to see very much. She is my Daddy's Mom. And then I have my Grandma Sandy, and she died and lives in Heaven but I can't see her. She is my Mommy's mom. And then I have you. How are you my Grandma?

Helen: Well I believe that your Grandma Sandy sent me to you. To love you and to spend time with you, because she couldn't be here.

Helen is a rare gem with such a giving heart and not just to Hunter and I , but to anyone around her in need. I have been a witness to her mad dash to the department store to get shoes for a little one who she had overheard the parents had fallen on hard times, and anonymously mailed them to their home. Winter coats she had bought for someone that just couldn't afford one. The list goes on and on....

Helen you are quite remarkable and have filled my heart and life with so much joy and happiness. You're example pushes me to be kinder and more charitable and giving. I believe that you were sent us, and our blessing have been so great.

I hope you had a fabulous 92nd birthday (see you're not the only one that can age you by leaps and bounds :) but certainly the only woman I have EVER know to say that she is older than she really is. Another little quirk I just love you for :) )

Go Hawks!

Hunter had his first football practice and game this week. He was so excited he wouldn't stop asking when the next practice/game was going to be. He did pretty good at practice (Hunter is wearing the green shirt) but was a little confused. Some of the boys are older and (way) more experienced than him, but he had fun just the same.

His first game started off real good but after a few squabbles with a few kids ion the opposing side, and him not getting his way at times (little stinker) it digressed into confusion, pouting and even a few tears... On the up side, he still wants to play and looks forward to practice "because I need a little more practice" :) Good attitude buddy! I can't wait to see how this adventure unfolds. Aren't they just so cute????

Back to Scool School Night 2011

Hunter is so close to starting the 1st grade. We had back to school night on TThursday. Hunter got to meet his teacher and see his class room, oh, but that was after we waited in line for an hour... Uuggg. Anyway, Hunters teacher was so sweet and he is thrilled to be in her class. He got to pick out the desk he wanted to sit in, put his books in his desk and explore the classroom. I'm so excited and genuinely feel blessed that we are able to have Hunter attend American Heritage. So far it's been a great experience.

Here are some lovely surprises I got for my birthday... So sad, I didn't get a picture of the beautiful flowers and silly card that Hunter got for me :( but I loved them, Thank you my darling boy.

My early morning surprise birthday goodies from the fabulously wonderful Tami, and her family. I declare, I have the best neighbors on the planet!

When I arrived at work I was surprised by balloons and banners, and a heart warming card, and yellow Daisey's from the beautiful Kristal.

And deliveries of balloons from Helen and gorgeous roses from a secret someone? To that secret someone whom ever you are thank you so much they are lovely...

Kristal and Helen (Helen in spirit as she was out of town) treated me to a delicious lunch as well. Thank you both, so yummy!

Zoorasic Park 2011

I surprised Hunter with an impromptu visit to the zoo. He loves going to the zoo however every time we go it is incredibly HOT! So I thought going later in the year would be better... It wasn't.

There was a few things not going for us this trip. Besides the fact that it was in the upper THOUSANDS weather wise, half of the park is under construction, our favorite half, BOO! On the upside we got to see the dinosaurs of Zoorasic Park. Hunter was thrilled. The animatronics were really pretty good, as were the sound effects. Hunter couldn't wait to see T-Rex, however he was a little scared and covered his ear. It actually took some convincing to get him to stand close for a picture. Lots of hot fun. Glad it din;t take long to go through it all.

Fun, Fun, Fun in the Hot, Hot, Sun!

A couple of my girlfriends and I put on our "first annual" Back 2 School Party 4 Smarties!

this was such a fun distraction from back to school anxieties for the kids. I think they all needed a little fun and crazy before heading back to school. The girls and I, Kristal and Tami, wanted to make this real special for the kids, so I made some cute invitations for each of them. The week before the Mom's and kids decorated "all about me" crowns with pictures and stickers that reflected each child's personality and likes.

The day of the party was completely chaotic... naturally. But it all came together in the end and we had a fantastic time. Hey, how can you not have fun when everyone who is invited is the guest of honor?

the Mom's packed sack lunches for the kids (parents had brats and hot dogs) delicious fruit, and plenty of snacks and sweets to go along with it! After we ate lunch the kids played while Mr. and Mrs. Lence put up all the clues for the treasure hunt they put together (brilliant by the way). Rounding up the kids to start the hunt was a bit of a challenge... They were extremely hot and getting a wee bit ornery by now. But they made it through the hunt and got their prizes, new back packs full of school supplies and other goodies! They were so excited. I had a lot of fun planning this party with such great friends. I can't wait to do it again next year!!!!

Hunter and I had such a fun weekend! Nothing says summer time like a baseball game.

Hunter and I and some of our favorite friends Kristal, Ayden and Caler all went to the Bee's game.

Like anything, you never can tell if kids are going to like something or not, but I do believe all fore mentioned little boys loved the ball game, at least the atmosphere.

The boys got to get their books signed by the players, they sipped and spilled sodas and even had peanuts and cracker jacks. Okay, so they didn't have cracker jacks, but they did get cotton candy and sunflower seeds. They were even swapping snacks with the little boys behind us. Could it have been more fun?

Friday's Guilt Tip ~ #6

~Happy Friday everyone~

(I'm faking the "Happy" today so please bare with me)

Although not everyday is a perfect day and all you may want is just some control and order in your life, I am here to remind you to ever so often let go and relinquish your control and order. Remember that most of the time our kids hear us saying "we have to hurry I'm going to be late for work" or "I'm going to be in trouble with my boss" as we scramble out the door in the morning. Thus making "my boss" seem like he/she has control of all of our lives. Remember work is something that is necessary to do, but it isn't who we are, and certainly ISN'T the most important thing in our life.

My 6 year old reminded me of this on one of those scrambled mornings when all he wanted to do is have me stay home with him and make pancakes.

"You love your job more than you love me"

Heartbreaking!

But that brings me to this guilt tip

~Boss for the day~

When I made Hunter "Boss for the day" (or for the weekend in this case), he thought he had hit the jackpot!

The first thing he told me we were doing was heading to the "Hunting Store" (Cabelas). So when we got there I told him he was in charge and could go and see whatever he wanted and I would follow him around. Shocked, he paused for a minute and then he was off for about an hour and a half we looked at all things camo and deadly....

Hunter became the proud owner of a new rifle, and I wasn't allowed to buy him anything camo because "my daddy will take care of that, you're a girl"

Hunter took me for a happy meal, and we were home bound for a living room camp out.

It was a great weekend, Hunter was a fantastic Boss.

Fridays Guilt Tip ~ # 5

It has been awhile since I have posted a guilt tip. The reason??? Busy, busy, busy, blah, blah, blah...

So without further adue...

~Craft Day~

Getting crafty, or artsy fartsy (as Hunter might say) is such a good way to reconnect with your kids after a long work week. Let your little one's minds go wild with possibilities. My very favorite crafty thing o do is go on a "Nature Walk" and pick up items and watch Hunter create little master pieces. Hunter's favorite thing to get crafty with is painting, he loves it. Let your kids get messy. Your kids days are full of schedules, no's and not right now's. Let them paint with mud, or finger paint each other. Most things wash right up including your kiddo's.

So get out your scraps of wrapping/scrapbook paper, glue, buttons pipe cleaners, ribbons, paints, markers crayons, and any other bits and bobs that are stashed away, and create some memories.

Parade of Home

Yes I did make the title singular on purpose...

I have been going to the Parade of Homes with Helen for years. We make an entire day out of it...

Brunch - this is when we map out our route.

Gas Station - Load up on water, and fuel and with added technology,get the addresses into the GARMIN (GPS)

In the past we have been astounded with the homes, gardens, decor (and my favorite) the fantastic kitchens. But the last few years we have noticed a steady decline in the WoW factors. I know, what can I expect with the economical pit falls we've been experiencing?

However, this year was a little ridiculous. Either the same interior designer was commissioned to decorate every parade home, or the general style for 2011 is that light teal-ish, blue-ish, green-ish color - Gold and or brown - and white. IN EVERY HOUSE WE WENT INTO!!! with the exception of one that had incredibly BOLD floral wall paper in every room, GAG! We went to 16 homes and they were all decorated the same. However there was one home that stole my heart away.... The "UP" House. Not just for the Disney origin, but for the loveliness of vintage nostalgia within the walls of that quaint little pastel home....

Tooth pain...No fun :(

Hunter started complaining that his teeth were hurting last night and again this morning so i was able to get him into see Dr. Ryan this morning. After x-rays and cleanings, I am very proud to report, that Hunter is cavity free and is now in the NO CAVITY CLUB! Hooray for my boy. On the down side he is "teething" again. That explains why his teeth are tender. His permanent teeth are descending and those baby teeth (which I LOVE) just don't want to fall out, in all honesty I can't say that I am sad about that. The two top front teeth are pretty loose, and I told him that if they fall out we'll just super glue them back in so I can keep him little forever! Grandma Helen Melon on the other hand offered up 5 bucks per tooth if he gets them out at the same time! I bet you can guess which scenario he's going for...

Happy Birthday Daddy & America

We were very lucky once again with the 4th of July weather. There is nothing more unbearable than scorching hot weather and sitting on the side of the road watching a parade. Yay for clouds and sprinkles...

Our day started with the West Jordan Parade... So sorry WJ City, but it was kind of a stinker this year. I think I saw 2 floats, a clown on a 2 story bicycle and a bunch companies, driving company cars handing out company flyer's (which by the way just ends up littering the road sides as people leave). Thumbs down to the parade this year. However, and most important, the kids loved it.

We also celebrate the most important man in my life on this day, my father. His strength, courage, witt, many quirks and undying love for us all is what we adore about my Dad. He is a survivor and a mentor. I celebrate my Dad today and everyday. I love you Daddy thank you for all you do and have done for us! Love forever your "Brown Eyed Girl"

By the way, if you are wondering why Hunter is dressed like an orphan... Somehow right before dinner Hunter came running into the house covered in ants. He was screaming "they're biting me". I dashed him into the bathroom where I was pulling off his clothes and brushing ants off of his perfect baby skin. Ultimately I had to get him into the tub and wash those creepy crawlies away. Poor boy didn't dare put his clothes back on, not that I blame him, so I had to borrow from the cousins. Hunter's bigger than both of them... This is all that fit.

I found the idea for these fun tissue pom poms on Martha Stuarts web site. She's a genius, or maybe it's her people? Either way there are amazing ideas and how to's on her website.

I used these pom poms four our 4th of July family party. I hung them from the gazebo and trees. They were inexpensive, not too time consuming and looked fab hanging in the yard!

Birdie Heaven

Last night was filled with much drama. Not just any drama, but Mama drama! Cause of the drama... The nasty little birdie pictured above...

I went out on my patio last night and when I turned around to come back in, there was a baby bird who decided that my patio would be a great spot for it's final resting place. That little fighter hadn't quite departed for heaven, and let me tell you he was a lot a bit scary looking, I screamed and ran back inside. Of course Hunter came running to see what was the matter and instantly started asking why, and how come, and Mommy you have to save it, it's just a baby, we can keep it in the bird house we made. I knew it wasn't going to make it, and would soon be flying to Heaven, but I couldn't leave it on my patio. I thought I could be a man about it and take care of it, but I'm too much of a girl. So what do I do... I call the worlds BEST, most FANTASTIC, absolutely WONDERFUL, HELPFUL, AMA-ZA-ZING (do you get the picture) neighbors and plea for handy man Steve to help find a more appropriate resting place for the poor thing. Of course he obliged. And with the help of his two precious monkeys, Brittany and Matthew, he took care of it. Thank you Tami for answering the call of your crazy neighbor. We love you Lence family.

Oh yea, P.S. the only reason this post was slightly compassionate about said bird is because it was just a baby. However, these birds are nasty little creeps who make huge messes, nest in my dryer vent, and poop on EVERYTHING. I wish they would all fly far away!!!!

Weekend fun!

Hunter and I were so busy this past weekend. Okay, no one call DCFS on me, but I took Hunter miniature Golfing for the first time Friday night. I know, I know. He didn't want to leave. We played the whole course. Although we got behind the most obnoxious children trapped in adult bodies, who for reasons unknown to me, thought it would be fun to put an element of difficulty to there game by not touching/standing on anything "green". This is not very conducive to the game of golf, mini or otherwise, and the four of them had about 7, yes 7, groups stuck behind them while they scooted across bridges and climbed over obstacles and so on... Why did I let this bother me so? It was about 9,000 degrees outside. And they weren't teenagers or even in there early twenties... They had to be 27+ Arrrg! But besides that SUPER FUN. We can't wait to go again. Saturday Hunter got to call the shots. He wanted to stay in Jammie's all day, so we did (at least for half the day). I picked lunch and Hunter got to chose what we had for dinner. His choice was my famous Chicken Enchiladas (oh and I snuck a hair cut in, Hunter wasn't real excited about that, but he looks marvelous). Sunday we went swimming (FINALLY) and then we met up with Grandma Helen and Grandpa Phil to see Cars 2, which we loved, and then we had an early dinner. By the time we got home Hunter was asking if it was time for bed. Well right before bed we snuck in some sparklers, happy, happy boy! Phew... what a weekend!

I was unable to give Hunter his graduation gift on Monday due to us partying the night away. By the time we got home it was after nine and I didn't want to get him all wound up again. So he opened it last night.

Here is a little back story on the reason I got him this gift... Hunter informed me that his chosen career is a Hunter. He wants to hunt Deer, Elk oh excuse me, I mean BUCKS and birds. His Kindergarten knowledge is sufficient for this chosen career path because all he has to know is how to shoot the animal in its vitals. So what did the Mom of the year get him for his gift... A hunting video game. Okay so I had a moment of weakness, I knew that he would love it, and really I know that he has much greater potential for a career than just hunting. I am hoping he'll play it so much he will realize how board he'd be hiking around chasing after Bambi's daddy. I am surprised he is so into it, hunting I mean. The only hunting he's been exposed to is my passion for bargain hunting at the local department stores :) and with a fiery passion, he HATES that kind of hunting...

I am proud to announce the newest Kindergarten Graduate!

Hunter graduated from Kindergarten on Monday. It was a fantastic ceremony and I do not believe there was a dry eye in the room. Little Learners Academy put on a wonderful end of year/Graduation program. The kidlets were more than ready to be out of school for the summer, but they stuck in there and put on a fantastic show. I am amazed at how much they learned and the skills they have developed.

Mrs. Drake, my hat goes off to you. You have been amazing. I am going to miss Little Learners Academy so much, it is run by the best staff of educators I have ever come across. Miss Launa, you deserve so much more praise than you already get. Your school is a dream land for education, and we love you!

Baby Olivia is back and she brought her Mommy, Elizabeth, too.

Our dear friends came to Utah to visit Grandma and we were lucky enough to spend the day at Lagoon with them. There was lots to do and see, and wait... COTTON CANDY! You can't ask for anything more.

Hunter was a lot of fun this year he was just about tall enough to ride all of the rides and let me say my little adrenaline junkie had NO fear! He wanted to ride the rides I was scared of. We tried to ride every ride and it turns out that last years bummer ride turned out to be Hunter's favorite ride of all. With his hands up no less... The White Wooden Roller Coaster.

Yes my heart drops into my chest just typing that.

I will never forget this day we had so much fun, and we can't wait to go back!

Friday's Guilt Tip ~ #4

~Baking & Cooking~

Hunter has always enjoyed baking and cooking with me, he's been doing it ever since he was a wee little nipper.

I find that this is a wonderful way to reconnect with your child at the end of a long day apart. It's kind of killing two birds with one stone. Most nights I am super pressed for time, with homework to help with, dinner, laundry, Tball, and the list goes on and on! But no matter what, dinner needs to be prepared and there is usually something for little ones of all ages to help with. From pouring in the seasonings, water, oil to cracking eggs and browning hamburger. You will be peppered with giggles and teaching life long skills. But most of all it is the memories that you get to take for yourself and give to your children.

Baking is especially fun because of the flour.... At the end of all our baking experiences I have a disastrous kitchen and a little white monster I like to call Hunter. I find that Hunter also opens up and becomes a lot more communicative when he is helping me cook. This is what works the best for me when Hunter's behavior is, well, something to be desired and I need a lot more than "What is bothering you"?

Don't forget to steal an extra kiss, say an extra I love you, and squeeze them a little harder when getting that hug.

Dear Dr. M., We are not best friends right now... Just so you know.... Sincerely, Me.

Ahhh, The Dentist... it's just about the worst place to visit (no offense Pete).

Although my dentist is adorable... I don't like visiting him when my pearly whites need immediate attention. It always involves the horrible shots and emanate PAIN!

Such is the case today. I am a little anal when it comes to my teeth. I take very good care of them and haven't had so much as a cavity in 8+ years. Well, I have been having terrible tooth pain for the past few weeks and I finally decided to get it looked at. And after enduring xrays, biting, ice and tapping tests there was absolutely nothing wrong! No decay no cracked or chipped teeth... nothing. So we decided to change out some old fillings just in case one of them had a small crack that may be leaking. BAD idea... it lead to a crown! Dr. M did you do that on purpose? Long story short... I'm in pain, and I am fantasising about my bed... Oh and I'm broke, or at least I will be when the bill comes. Arggg, Just when things start to smooth out... WHAMO!

I just hate going to the dentist!

Friday's Guilt Tip ~ #3

~Lunch Box Notes~

I don't know about you, but my working Mom guilt tends to creep in when I know that Hunter is have something exciting or even stressful happening in his day. those are the times as mothers we either want to bare witness or be there waiting to provide the soothing hug and the always powerful "Everything is going to be okay". Well we can't always be there, but this is a way to let our little people know that although we can't be there, we are still thinking of them.

Place a little note in your child's lunch box, folder, pencil box or school bag, even their pocket, someplace your child will be sure to see it at one point during the day. These could be encouraging words seen before a big test, or a simple boost of self confidence. Most importantly it is a way to remind your child(ren) that you are thinking of them and love them all the day long. I made mine on the computer, but you could use a simple note card, a post it note or even a napkin. You never know when a little note from Mom is going to make a world of difference in your child's day, and I think it's a perfect way to be in your child's heart when you can't be there in person. For you Moms with small children or even babies who can't read, place a photo of you with a little note or I love you on the back, in their diaper bag and ask your child care provider to show it to your child and read the message on the back every day.

Hold onto the hugs, steal lots of kisses and cherish those little creatures you are so blessed to have.

Rain, rain, go away Hunter wants to go outside and play!

It's still raining. The sun hasn't shown it's lovely warm face for days. Now for the romantic that I am. most rainy days I would be longing for a warm blanket, a hot cup of tea, and a good book sitting by my bay window listening to the glorious sound of Mother Nature watering her gardens... But really... kiddies trapped inside for days, Tball games being cancelled, closets expanding to maximum capacity because they are housing both winter and summer clothing... (Sigh)

I'm so over it and FYI Mother Nature, you are over doing it!

Oh well, I was taken back and reminded of another rainy day that was very welcome at the time and thought I would share some precious snap shops.

And I am sure there are times our teachers must feel they are in a thankless job. Mothers Day 2011

I hope your Mother's Day was as beautiful, and wonderful, and as fantastic as mine was...

Hunter, Grandma Helen and Grandpa Phil took me to brunch at The Grand America for Mother's Day.

(BRUNCH : " I'm taking mommy to brunch. I don't know what that is, but it's something like lunch!")

It was so, so nice. Great food, great people and I even ran into a few old friends. I love my people so much. I love being surrounded by people I love, who love me... It's simply the best feeling ever.

On Mother's Day I always stop and remember what a wonderful Mother I was blessed with. Often people ask how I do it. How I cope with the every day rigmarole of single motherhood? And without a doubt I know I got my strength, devotion and determination from my Mother. She was so strong, so beautiful and so full of love. She never gave up or gave less and neither will I. I miss her every day, but I am overwhelmed with the legacy she left our family. I love you Mom!

Friends, here is my plea to you. Regardless of the strength of your relationship with your Mother, do yourself this favor. Give her a hug and tell her you love her. Thank her for the little things. I often think of what I would want to do given one more moment with my Mom, and I would do exactly that. Not because I didn't do it enough when she was here, but what really is enough. Can you ever get too many hugs, kisses and I love yous from your kids? NO WAY! Seriously do it before you are left wishing you would have.

My greatest hope is that my son will remember me and our times together as wonderful times, full of love... Every day full of love.

Hunter is playing T-Ball this spring and is having so much fun!

Please do not call DCFS on me, but yes, this is the first time he has played team sports. And I must say he is a SUPER STAR! Yes, I am bias, but really he is very good. The very first game he was using the T every time and by the 3rd game no T and hit it over everyone's head 3 out of 4 times, the 4th hit was a line drive down the first base line. He was so proud of himself, as was I. Tackle T-Ball is the funniest thing to watch. You might ask why I call it Tackle T-Ball... Well, when the ball is hit all 10 little kiddo's chase it down, and dog pile each other to get that little tiny white ball. I suggest that everyone put their kids in tackle T ball, it is so much fun!

Girls are playing on the opposite team... "Ummm coach can I play 3rd base now?" Look how close he is standing to that little girl...

Friday's Guilt Tip ~ #2

Sorry folks, I know that I did not post last Friday because my Internet has been down.... I had very good intentions on making up for the MIA Tip... I was going to post it on Monday, and then Tuesday for sure...Nope not on Wednesday either. But here it is FRIDAY!!! The most perfect day to post Friday's Guilt Tip.

~Picture Perfect~

Bring a picture of you at your very Mommiest to work! Not just of your kids, but you playing, interacting, or just plain being silly with your children. Place it in a spot where you are sure to see it several times a day. This will serve as a reminder that you are doing the best you can. You are being that mommy your children so desperately need and love, and confirm what your little people already believe... you are the best Mom in the world! (and don't you forget it)...

With all the wonders of technology these days this Tip is easy, breezy, lemon squeeze (as Hunter would say). If you don't have an office to put a framed picture up, set the picture as your background on your cell phone or computer screen.

This is my desktop picture I have on my computer at work. I get to look at this all day long. I love my little man's huge smile...

Just remember that every little moment between you and your children is in fact what makes up your life!

After the cousins party Hunter and I headed off to Grandma Helen's and Grandpa Phil's for dinner.

Uncle Joe put together such a fun Lego Easter Egg hunt for Hunter. He got candy, Lego's and yup Money!

Oma and Super Vic (Helen's parents) were in town visiting which is always a treat. Lots of cooking with a German flare and yummy desserts. I feel so bad that I abandoned my camera half way into the night because dinner was amazing and dessert... YUMMO!

Oma, Joe and Helen put together an Easter basket for Hunter as well (sorry no pic), but it had so many fun things in it. He carries around his bunny that poops candy just about every where we go and the glider plane, he is crazy about that thing! We are so blessed that Helen and Phil have taken us in as part of their family we love them all so very much! Kisses, hugs and Thank yous to Helen, Phil, Irma, Vic and Joe for such a wonderful time.

Easter Sunday 2011 - Part 1

We had such a busy Easter that I must do these posts in 3 parts.

I didn't think that I would make it to all of our scheduled events, but we did and on time no less.

Hunter began his fun filled day with his Dad, so by the time he got home to me he was already tired and covered in Easter chocolate! We got started right away looking for the little treasures the Easter Bunny had hidden.

That silly Easter Bunny even hid things in Hunter's room...

The coolest find ever! You can't see it but there is a butterfly that lives in this jar... It floats and flutters, and will never die! It's the perfect bug to keep.

I love coloring Easter Eggs with Hunter. I don't know if it's the giggles, the amazement on his little face, or the bright colors that give me hope that Spring will eventually come? I guess it's all of the above! We had to color eggs last night because Hunter is off to Daddy's for the weekend. So we got all the gear out, boiled our eggs, and had a great time together laughing and experimenting. One of us more than the other. Can you guess who had more fun with color? I bet you can by the time you get to the last few pictures.

This Egg tie dying machine (only 5 bucks) was great in theory, but it didn't work very well. Hunter only produced one egg out of this before he moved on!

Friday's Guilt Tip ~ #1

Alright my lovely working Mommies. Here is my first tip for my new feature.

~Gratitude Journal~

If any of you journal or have journaled in the past you know that it can be an awesome release for things you need to get off of your chest. I am a great believer in journaling for this reason. However, when I was introduced to the Gratitude Journal I didn't realize how much of my journaling was negative, hurtful, sad and yes, depressing. I can't believe that these are the things, the moments that I have decided to capture and remember forever???

Well, as I was out to lunch with a new dear friend and Co Worker, the adorable Kristal, we popped into a little boutique, and she picked up this adorable orange journal and asked if I had a Gratitude Journal? I had never heard of that??? She explained and I had to have it! Now a little tid bit about the adorable Kristal! She is pretty much AMAZZAZING!!! I am in awe of her every time we get to talk! See her blog here mamatoaydenandcaler.blogspot.com. A breath of fresh air is this girl. So smart, beautiful, fabulous style and yes a super, single, working Mom (why is she single??? It baffles me too :))

The way my gratitude Journal works... Every day I take 3 GREAT things that happened in my day and I write a short one or two sentence description about each GREAT thing. It only takes a moment and when I am done I am smiling. I feel better about the good things, and I don't dwell on the bad as much. It reminds me that I am doing good and it also makes me focus on doing "more" good every day!

Okay Working Moms... this post's for you!

As you may know I am a Working Mom, and not only do I have to work, I am a single working Mom. (Boo). Well if you are like me there is a tremendous amount of guilt that is heaped onto a working mother when it comes to our children. There are questions I ask myself daily... Am I doing enough? What more should I be doing? How is what I am doing effecting my child? The stress and pressure is enough to make a volcano erupt! Well I had the wonderful opportunity to stay home with Hunter yesterday and had one of those morning talk shows on while I was getting ready for the field trip, and half listening, I heard the topic was about the guilt working mother's have. "Light bulb"... It immediately dawned on me that I knew at least a dozen of my dear friends that are struggling with being a working mom, single or married. And I thought what a wonderful way to put my blog to good use... well hopefully...

Fly me to the moon....

Yesterday Hunter's school went on a field trip to the Clark Planetarium, and guess who forgot her camera??? Booo, Hisss. So these were taken via my "Crapberry" phone.

Hunter got to let his imagination run wild, and oh boy did he pepper me with questions! I just revelled in his 6 year old little self processing and making sense of what he was seeing. A great Mommy moment once again. But never you fear, I was able to ruin the whole day by blurting out 8 little words... "We have to go to the grocery store"! Bhaa... However, I was able to reclaim some of my "Great Mom" status by having a "Peekza Picnic" in the living room followed by baseball practice with the neighbors... Phew!

Just a little side note... While Hunter was playing in the tub before we left, he was putting his head underwater and I told him to be careful and asked what exactly he was doing??? "I'm BATHtizing myself" (of course he was :)) I swear he says the cutest dang things....
