Twas The Night Before Christmas

Christmas eve was packed full of craziness... I had to work (bummer) so as soon as I got off work I "dashed" home to pick up Hunter, and was going over in my head all the fun things that I had planned for that night, but as I was driving home I remembered that I hadn't gotten any batteries yet!!! All parents out there understand this problem... (Unless of course your children only play with sticks and string), all children's toys run on batteries. So we run to the store which what was planned on being a quick trip seems like EVERYONE else planned the same quick trip to the same store! Finally we got out of there and was home bound once more. We got home and did a quick pick up of toys, then I got the cookie baking supplies out! I get the dough ready and Hunter came and used every cookie cutter in the house we put them into the oven to bake. Quick clean up of the kitchen to make our traditional Spaghetti dinner. Hunter was his amusing self as he talked about how excited he was about Santa's impending visit. He lit the candles on the table (so he can blow them out of course) and then we toasted to a yummy dinner, family, and Santa. Quick clean up of the kitchen AGAIN and it was time to decorate the cookies. That was so much fun. I think Hunter put more frosting in his tummy then he did on the cookies. And the sprinkles... I had sprinkles on EVERY surface! What a mess but it was so much fun!

Quick clean up of the kitchen once AGAIN and it was time to open Christmas Jammie's, and get into the bath, put in a Christmas movie (Hunter chose The Grinch) and then off to bed so Santa could come.

It was such a long night but full of fun and excitement... Christmas is so much fun to watch through a child's eyes.

and to all a good night!!!!

December 17, 2004

7:30 a.m. the doctor came into my room to check my progression... I had been in labor now for about 9 hours. I barley started getting uncomfortable at this time. I opted not to have an epidural (for as long as I could stand it) but my excitement left no room for pain or discomfort. After the doctor was finished he told me that it almost seemed like you had turned and you were now in a breech position. He couldn't be 100% sure so he said that we would check again after my water broke. And of course he got outside my door and my water broke. You were officially on your way! I called the nurse and she came in and checked you. She was pretty sure that you in fact were breech. She called the doctor and he ordered an ultrasound... Sure enough there you were trying to make your debut bum first :) So the doctor said that because your heart rate was dropping so rapidly in about 10 minutes we would have to have an emergency C-section. Immediate panic set in. I was terrified that something was wrong with you. In less than ten minutes I was wheeled into surgery, given a spinal block (ouch!) and in one life changing, miraculous moment my name was changed forever. I was mommy, and you were absolutely perfect, with your little legs and feet growing out of your ears :) You see, because you were in the breech position for so long, your little legs were folded up to your ears... December 17th 2004 - 8:25 a.m. 7 lbs. 5 oz. 19 1/2 inces. "PERFECT" I will never forget the moment I got to see you. It is indescribable the amount of love I had for you, and we had just met :) It would be 30 minutes before I could hold you in my arms, well more like have you laid on my arms. I was still completely numb and couldn't move, but your daddy got you out of the nursery after you were given the all clear from your crazy entrance, and set you in my arms and for one perfect moment everything in the world was right, and I had been given this amazing gift, and from that day on I knew that having you meant watching my heart walk around outside of my body.

This is your birthday story, the day my life began... Happy 5th Birthday my sweet boy. For everyday I spend with you is a lifetime of happiness. I love you so much it isn't even fair!!!! .

Love always,
Mommy

My 1st Christmas Program

December 16, 2009

Hunter had his first Christmas program at school last night. He was so excited to sing on the stage. He did so good and of course was too funny. I Finally got to be the parent who's kid stood on stage spotted his Mommy and waved, blew kisses, and yelled "hi Momma". It was precious, I will never forget the way I felt. Of course my camera was acting up again, of course because it was a very important night in my little mans life... so sorry, the pictures are a little blurry. But he looked so handsome, and just overall happy to be singing and dancing! A very proud Mommy moment.

My favorite song - The Rock Stars days of the week!

Hunter's favorite song - Rudolf The Red Nose Reindeer
(because he got to wear the antlers)

Arrrg...It's my pirate party

Ahoy mates.... Hunter had his 5th birthday party on Saturday. We had so much fun dressing up as pirates, having sword fight, searching for hidden treasure, building pirate ships, eating peekza (pizza), cake and ice cream, opening presents, and having lots of pictures taken...Phhhew, I think I covered it all. He had so much fun and his favorite part of the whole day was having all his friends at his house.

"I love you Hunter Boo..." I am so proud of you and so blessed that I did something right to deserve to be your Mommy.

Oh yea... We have a little addition to the family (bottom photo) his name is Dasher and it is all Hunter wanted for his birthday. We went to the pet store and Hunter picked him out, and although we can't take him in his plastic bag every time we leave the house, Hunter loves him and (for now) can't wait to get up and feed him and talk to him.

INTRODUCING: DASHER

Thankful

I know that I am a little late getting this post up but it has been crazy....

So every other year my family goes to their in-laws for Thanksgiving (you know, so they aren't obligated to eat twice) and this was the off year. So as I don't have in-laws I made Thanksgiving dinner for Hunter and I. Hunter was learning all about the first Thanksgiving at school and was so excited for our "feast"! I know it seems a little crazy to prepare an entire Thanksgiving meal for just two people but it was so much fun. I didn't go all out but I made all of the essentials. Hunter was happy and at the last moment Helen and Phil were able to break away from their packing and moving party to stop by and grab a bite. We are so blessed to have them in our lives. We love them dearly.

What am I Thankful for:
1) Family
2) Friends
3) Faith
4) Love

In the meadow we can bulild a snowman

Hunter and I had family pictures done last Saturday and despite the freezing temperature it was such a fun day. Hunter was his usual amusing self and kept us all laughing... I haven't seen them all but Mindy used some of our pictures on their web site and blog so I borrowed these previews. Mindy and Mark did a beautiful job picking the location and capturing all of these candid shots. They are such a wonderful couple and do amazing work. If anyone is looking for a photographer I highly recommend Highlite photography. It was an incredible experience. Mark and Mindy you were great!

A very blustery day...

Hunter was so excited for the first big snow storm of the season... Finely we got some snow that stuck to the ground!!!

We got all of Hunter's snow gear just in the nick of time, with one exception... His sled was still on lay-a-way. Why I did that i will never know, anyway, as we were running out of the store with his sled he was just in a panic that the snow was going to stop before we could get home and get his snow gear on... Have no fear we made it and had a wonderful afternoon in the snow. Although I don't have a photo to prove it, even mom went down a few hills...

Hunter got his Rudolph hot coco after, and was one happy boy the rest of the night. Hunter can't wait for the next snow storm to roll in....

Trick or Treats!

Hunter went Trick or Treating with his cousin Merrisa. He was so excited he panicked when I stopped at the store to grab some water. He thought that we were going to miss the whole thing! We made it to Merrisa's and they were off and running. I wasn't sure how Hunter was going to react to some of the scarier costumes , and sure enough about half way through this guy in a great costume (very scary) walked right up behind Hunter at the door and I told Amanda, "Oh no trick or treating is over as soon as Hunter sees him" Hunter turned around and saw him, I started walking towards the house knowing that he would start freaking out, I looked up at him and he was all smiles and petting the guys long bearded mask. He ran over to me an said Mom did you see that guy? And I said yes, weren't you scared? And with every ounce of seriousness in his little body he says "(sigh) Mom, It's just a mask!" and shaking his head in disgust (while Amanda & I were laughing hystarically) he simply walked on over to the next house! We ate a yummy chili dinner at Char & Dave's then we headed over to Grandpa's house to get spoiled with all kinds of treats and play pool... It was a perfect night, we were all exhausted but we had so much fun. I do believe Halloween is Hunter's favorite holiday. He insisted that it wasn't over when he woke up the next morning to find I had almost all of the decorations down and put away! He begged me to leave them up until after his birthday (not a chance)! I told him we had to have Thanksgiving and then it was time to get ready for Santa! He was willing to give up Thanksgiving if I kept the Halloween stuff up!!! I won, Halloween was down and put away that day! Poor baby, he did make a very good case though. He knows how to work those eyes!!!
