Visiting the Village - UPDATED

I took a few days off to spend some much needed one on one time with Hunter... You know that it is time to take a vacation when your son accuses you of liking to go to work more than you like being with him... "Oh honey, if you only knew that was the furthest thing from the truth".

So on Thursday we visited Gardner Village and the Petting Zoo. The baby animals were so cute, and even though I have issues with animal hair and slobber, it was a lot of fun. Hunter made a few new friends of the "four legged variety" one of which was a very friendly and sweet goat that Hunter named Winnie. My favorite was the spunky piglet we chased around. Hunter also got to ride a pony and had sore cheeks from smiling the whole time.

After we finished at the petting zoo we went to one of our favorite shops at the village "The Book Nook" and Hunter got to pick out a new book. He picked out "Diary of a wimpy kid". He is so excited about this book. Evidently it is the "it" chapter book of the year... Move over Harry Potter... He also got Adventures of Dick and Jane (classic), and I'm going to kindergarten. Hunter is reading beginner books and it is one of my greatest joys of the day when I hear him sounding out words.... Happy, happy mommy... We had a delish lunch at Archibald's and then we headed home for some down time. Not all of my pictures loaded so I will add the rest tomorrow. Enjoy.

Mother's Day 2010

Mother's Day... Always bitter sweet.

Hunter called it Hunter and Mommy's Day of Fun :) Unfortunately for me it was a little on the sad side.

First we went to the store to pick out flowers for Grandma Sandy and Nana, then it was off to the cemetery. Hunter is still having a hard time with understand exactly what this is all about, but his little mind just gets wandering and questions start flowing, it was so wonderful just to listen to his thoughts. We stayed for awhile and cleaned up their headstones. As I was standing there watching Hunter clean off leaves and grass, and missing my mother so much it was hard to breath, I was overcome with pride when my little boy stood up and said I love you so much grandma, and as he was getting into the car he said I love you Grandma, I love you Nana and blew them a kiss... I wish so much that she was still here.

I admit that it put me in a major "funk" but I tried hard to put on a strong face for Hunter.

After the cemetery we went to the store to look at getting Hunter a new bike. Well that didn't go over so well because he is too big for the bikes that come with training wheels, and he got major anxiety thinking of getting a bike without training wheels. I guess I should not ever go into sales because I couldn't convince him that I really could put training wheels on the new bike. I guess in his mind there are just some things a "mommy" just can't do. Needless to say, we left the store without a bike.

We went to lunch and then we went to the park to fly kites, and play on the play ground

Hunter helped make a lovely BBQ dinner, and then it was off to our bed time routine.

Happy Mother's day to all of the incredible Mother's out there. I hope your day was as amazing as you are.

Palying at the park

Fun Mom and me play date at the park... Hunter was a lost Monkey and I was the zoo keeper who took him home to live with me... Happy boy :)
